I'm As Mad As........

I learned years ago not to do anything (except wait) when I'm angry. I think it has something to do with my Irish temper. Anyway, I am now going to ignore that lesson and react to a situation while I am still angry.

Yesterday, a neighbor's cat crawled home with an arrow protruding from its body. My neighbor, Jean, cut the bulk of the arrow off and took her pet to the vet's. Unfortunately, Paws did not make it.

That saddens me because I know how much my cats mean to me and Jean's mean as much to her. It angers me even more because the arrow was a transmitter-tracking arrow. What does that tell me? It tells me that Paws didn't meet a kid with a simple bow and arrow playing cowboys and Indians. It tells me that an adult was directly responsible for the murder of this pet. He himself shot that little animal deliberately or he left lethal equipment accessible to a child. This was a cold-blooded act to cause pain to an animal and its owner.

And dear readers, don't dream up defenses for the shooter or try to blame the cat. I'm in no mood to listen.

That's awful!!! That is why I keep my cat's indoors, too many people out there who are just nuts!

This is both infuriating and heartbreaking. If someone hates cats, fine, hate cats, but please recognize that even if you dislike them, there are many of us who have close and loving relationships with our pets, and when you harm a cat, you cause a great deal of grief and heartbreak to the animal's human companion. I am so grateful to live in a cat-friendly neighborhood, where even the strays are cared for collectively by neighbors. The shooter's behavior was callous, cruel and inexcusable, and my heart goes out to Paws' owner, and my prayers accompany Paws to kitty heaven.

I "know" how you feel, Lil. You can sum it all up in a nutshell. Management is working with the authorities in the investigation. Hopefully the agencies can work together & hold the "KILLER" responseable for any & all penalities that could apply to this neighborhood heartbreak.
You're the best. Awfully big heart for an Irishwoman.

People that harm cats are just a thoughtless and heartless as those that vote for Bush.

Please keep us up-to-date as to if they catch the sadistic S.O.B.

I am sorry for your loss. No one should lose anything dear to them in such a heartless way.

I hope you find the one responisible and they are held accoutable for what they've done

You won't get any defense for that kind of despicable behavior from me. The world is full of mean people & we can only hope they pay for their evil actions.

I know first hand how cruel people can be. I wanted to make a difference and through my local human socity and my local vet I started taking pets into my home, to find homes for the ones that the shelter did not have room for. My vet helped me out with medicene for those that needed it.
When the word got out, I had strangers showing up on my door step to drop off (I can't say their pets because they were just throw away animals like trash to these people). I would ask for a donation to help feed thier "animal" and most became quite irate. Again the word must have gotten out because then I started finding Mothers with whole litters of babies, tied in garbage bags or gunny sacks, a few were thoughtful enough to leave them in a box on my door step. Many were sick, had ring worm or severe injuries. They were left with; No food, no money, no note, ever! I tryed to help these pets for 3 heart breaking years. Until I had to say no more, I couldn't take it anymore. But to this day I don't feel the same about people.
