How To Recognize a Liar

Here's some information we can all use.

Dr. Charles Ford, a psychiatrist and professor at the University of Alabama Birmingham, says the average person lies to others once or twice a day.

How can you tell when you're being deceived? Per Dr. Paul Ekman, a professor of psychology at the University of California-San Francisco and the author of 'Telling Lies: Clues to Deceit in the Marketplace, Politics and Marriage', look for the following:

Know their baseline behavior.
Establish rapport.
Ask for minute details.
Watch for "false" facial expressions.
Give them an out."

Also. . watch for this:

When you question someone if they are trying to recall something (i.e. they are remembering a truth)
they will look to their right or your left.

Try to remember what you ate for dinner yesterday. Your eyes should go up and slightly to your right.

If the person is lying or trying to make something up he will most often look to his left or your right.

Keep that in mind. Great post.

Great theory, but,if you don't lie,you don't have to remember.
If you do lie expect to be found out.
I've heard it said that many people lie because they don't have any truths that they want to share.
I think I'll try jj's thought. Poker...& hope the other players have heard the theory.
